An Upstate New York engineering and mechanical contracting firm with an office in Endicott is celebrating 50 years in business.

Postler and Jaeckle of Rochester does large scale public and private jobs for heating, air conditioning and plumbing.

Regional projects have included the new SUNY Broome dorms, Basset Hospital and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and Cornell University.

With engineers on staff, P & J can handle a company's design, installation and ongoing maintenance.

"We can go all the way from the beginning all the way to the end and stay with folks. I think we're optimistic that manufacturing is slowly going to come back. But it will be a different type of manufacturing. It's not going to be the old industrial plants that you've seen in so many historic pictures," said Dineen.

Dineen says P & J has the expertise to install the latest energy efficient technology for today's high tech manufacturer.

And it focuses on helping existing customers make upgrades that will save them money.

Local service manager Art Studer says he appreciates working for a family-owned business.

"It's nice because you're not just a number. You're a face, they know who you are. And that's what I really enjoy with this company. They expect a lot, but they also give a lot. Their biggest focus is on customer service. The customer comes first in this company," said Studer.

P & J is planning to open a new office to serve New Jersey, Maryland and Southern Pennsylvania as it follows the expansion of one of its major clients, Wegmans.
