Police investigate fatal Easter crash involving car, motorcycle in Delaware County

TOWN OF ROXBURY, N.Y. - Police are investigating after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle left one person dead in Delaware County on Easter.

New York State Police say the accident happened just after noon on Sunday on State Route 23 in the Town of Roxbury.

Police say Yamir Betancourt, 53, of Oneonta, was driving his motorcycle with his wife, Elizabeth Betancourt, 50, riding as a passenger.

Police say Mr. Betancourt drifted over the yellow line, overcorrected, and lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to fall.

As a result, police say Mrs. Betancourt was ejected from the motorcycle and fell into the path of a westbound 1995 Honda Pilot driven by Isaac Abramchayev, 38, of Fresh Meadows, NY.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband was treated at the scene for abrasions to his right knee and left forearm, which required no further medical attention.

Police say Abramchayev was not injured, and that the investigation is ongoing.
