Police: Hallstead man, 25, killed in early morning head-on crash

HARFORD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after an early morning crash left a Hallstead man dead.

Police say the crash happened in Harford Township in Susquehanna County, PA, on State Route 11 just north of the State Route 106 intersection around 6 a.m. on Friday.

They say a Jeep operated by Michael Kyle Mortimer, 21, of Tunkhannock was traveling north, while a Chrysler operated by David Calla, 25, of Hallstead was traveling south.

Police say the two vehicles struck each other head-on.

Calla was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mortimer was taken to Wilson Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries.

Police say the crash is still being actively investigated, and will send an update early next week.
