Police: Chenango Forks contractor paid $8,000 for work he never did

OXFORD, N.Y. - A local contractor is facing charges after police say he was paid money for work he never completed.

New York State Police arrested Thomas Brick, 56, of Chenango Forks, on Monday, and charged him with the felony of grand larceny 3rd degree and the misdemeanor of petit larceny.

Police say the fraud incident was reported in September 2016.

They say an investigation determined that in March 2016, Brick had entered into an agreement to do repair work for a residential trailer and was given a down payment of $8,000.

Police say at no time did Brick start the work or return the down payment.

Brick, who currently resides at NYS Gowanda Correctional Facility on an unrelated charge, was transported to the Chenango County Court for his arraignment.

He was then taken back to that state prison.
