Police: Binghamton man charged with morning assault, victim in critical condition

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A Binghamton man has been arrested after allegedly beating up a 41-year old man on Conklin Avenue

Eric Mathis, 22, was arrested Wednesday morning at his home on Tremont Avenue and is charged with assault.

Police responded to the area of 62 Conklin Avenue Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m., where they found 41-year old Kenneth Richardson lying unconscious on the sidewalk.

According to Binghamton Police, Mathis picked up and slammed Richardson multiple times and began striking him.

Richardson was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition with internal injuries.

Police say the Mathis and Richardson knew each other.
