The Grzelak family opened Podlasie Polish Restaurant on Route 17C in Glendale last year.
Local officials joined them today in holding an official ribbon-cutting.
The parents, Slawomir and Janina, were born in Poland and brought many of the classic recipes with them.
Dishes include potato pancakes with salmon, pierogies, kielbasa and golabki known in other cultures as holupki.
Daughter Jessica and son Patrick round out the family management team.
"Its always been a dream of my parents to open a restaurant and as we got older and they had my brother and I, it sort of fell out of the picture. So Patrick and I, my brother and I, we brought it back to life for us," said Jessica.
Podlasie, named after the region of Poland that the family originally came from, also offers takeout and serves a variety of Polish sodas and beer.
The restaurant is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday for dinner and Thursdays and Fridays for lunch and dinner.
