BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - More plans are coming together to form a pedestrian and bicycle path connecting Binghamton University's main campus to Downtown Binghamton
Phase 1 of the Route 434 Greenway is almost complete.
The area that is nearly finished is at the Pennsylvania Avenue exit ramp.
Crews constructed a pathway from Vestal Avenue that leads to an underpass connecting pedestrians to South Washington Street.
The next phase includes creating the section the connects the Main Campus to Murray Hill Road.
Then, crews will have to find a way connect the Vestal Town Line at Vestal Ave to the Murray Hill road section.
"We have to figure out from that point, how to join at the end of the Parkway at the Town of Vestal line getting across University Plaza traveling up toward Murray Hill Road. Those are all issues that we're working preliminary engineering on at this point in time," said Williams.
Williams says DOT personnel will continue to hold public meetings on the project.
