The warmer weather means construction season will be revving up.

The New York State Department of Transportation says it will be doing its best to minimize the impact of projects to travelers.

For instance, bridge work will be done on Interstate 81-northbound near the Pennsylvania line this year.

However, no lanes will be closed from Memorial Day through the summer on weekends to make it easier to get through the area.

And, Route 434, a.k.a. the Vestal Parkway, from the City of Binghamton line to the Tioga County line will also be paved this year.

"Basically, we'll be milling that pavement down and putting a new top on the parkway, which will definitely improve the riding surface on 434. We'll definitely do our best to do that work while the traffic volumes are low," said DOT regional director Jack Williams.

That means a lot of night work.

Construction on Prospect Mountain, which is helping turn Route 17 into Interstate 86, has already started back up for the season.
