VESTAL, N.Y. - Vestal students are showing their Golden Bear pride as they congratulate two New York State Championship teams.
The Vestal baseball team and marching band celebrated their state championship victories with a procession around the high school.
Students lined the hallways to cheer and congratulate the teams, while "We are the Champions" played over the school's speakers.
On Saturday at NYSEG Stadium, Vestal baseball defeated Wantaugh High School, located on Long Island, by a 2-0 margin.
In October, the marching band won states for the first time in school history.
Vestal Pitcher Joe Iacovelli says the community support was crucial in bringing home the title.
"It's great. We couldn't have done it without the support of the school and everyone who came to our games. Everybody was with us at heart. It definitely helped us win our State Championship," he said.
The State Championship Teams were also congratulated by their younger peers from Clayton Avenue Elementary.
They walked to Dick Hoover Stadium and gave high-fives to the champions out on the track.
