'NY Beer and Bites Walk' coming to Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - It's beer lovers turn to spend the day traipsing through Binghamton, enjoying what the independent eateries have to offer.

Building on the success of its annual Martini Walk and Wine and Tapas Tour, EatBing, in conjunction with BingPop, is launching its first ever New York Beer and Bites Walk this weekend.

18 different restaurants in and around downtown will be offering 5 ounce samples of New York State craft beer, coupled with tastings from their menu.

Galaxy Brewing is offering its ESB, or Extra Special Bitter, number 42, paired with Beef on Crustini with a beer and cheese sauce.

"What's important about these walks is that people can literally walk from one place to the next to the next and enjoy a myriad of different experiences and tastes," said Galaxy Owner Mike Weisel.

Joshua Bernard of BingPop said, "With craft beer, we're opening it up to a whole new group of people who are going to go out and celebrate the community.  And maybe even some people who've never been downtown before to the restaurant scene."

The walk runs from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets must be purchased in advance for $12, then there's a $3 fee for each tasting.

Participants then pick up their special glass at the Garland Gallery on Washington Street.

Purchase tickets at EatBing.com.
