The National Rifle Association has endorsed Congressman Richard Hanna in his primary challenge against Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney.

The NRA says Hanna earned the endorsement for his consistent and proven voting record on Second Amendment issues in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The lobbying organization gave him an A rating.

Hanna is a gun owner and a lifetime NRA member who is opposed to New York's SAFE Act which bans assault rifles and restricts the size of bullet magazines.

Tenney has garnered much of her support from gun rights supports through her vocal opposition to the SAFE Act.

The Republican primary for Congress is June 24th.
