A Tioga County business has been awarded a large contract from the State of Minnesota.

Northeast Implement landed the deal with Minnesota to provide wood chippers to municipalities. It's worth nearly two and a half million dollars over six years. Northeast is located in Spencer. It has been in business since the 1970s. President and CEO Charles Klett bought it in 2008.
The company imports forestry equipment and sells the top of the line items throughout the northeast, on the west coast and in Canada and Mexico.

Charles Klett says, "Northeast Implement, as far as the equipment that we sell, always has been and is considered professional industrial grade chippers. I think that's why the municipalities are attracted to our chippers. They are something that are going to be used day after day, professional quality and built to last."

Northeast is also pursuing several other contracts and wants to expand its work with local municipalities.
