Midway Lanes in Vestal undergoes major renovation, adds bumper cars, laser tag

VESTAL, N.Y. - A Vestal bowling alley is removing some of its lanes to make way for a state-of-the-art entertainment zone.

Midway Lanes has undergone a $2 million renovation and removed 12 bowling lanes to add bumper cars, laser tag and a host of arcade games.

Players put money on a pre-paid card and swipe it when entering the attraction.

The Spin Zone is a 7-minute bumper car attraction with flashing lights and black lights, while the urban military themed laser tag uses state-of-the-art technology and is the first of its kind in North America, according to Midway Marketing Coordinator Tara Snarski.

"It's a lot of fun. Out of everything you can do in our area, you won't find anything like this. The first time you get on one of those bumper cars, you're going to want to get right back on.  I've been on them and they're so much fun," said Snarksi.

The Fun Zone will also feature the "Falcon 360" where players sit in a machine and shoot lasers toward the enemy, and if players are hit, the Falcon 360 spins around.

Midway partnered with the Agency to receive a tax-free incentive for equipment manufactured in New York State.

On Saturday, the public can check it out during a grand opening celebration.
