Member of Local Latin Street Gang Sentenced

A member of a local Latin street gang is going to prison for selling drugs.

Federal prosecutors say that 25-year-old Jose Alvarado of Binghamton, who goes by the street name Chewee, is a member of a gang that calls itself the Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation.

Alvarado admitted to possessing and selling the street drugs cocaine and heroin as well as prescription drugs such as oxycontin, percocet and morphine.

He was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.

A co-defendant, 28-year-old Reynaldo Bones of Binghamton, aka Javy, was previously sentenced to more than 11 years. Three other co-conspirators, Luis Masso-Diaz, aka Wewe, Victor Texidor aka Machito, and Jose Alicea, aka Papo, await sentencing.
