VESTAL, N.Y. - A Vestal man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into homes and posing as a realtor to obtain lease payments.
31-year old Bryan Vassuer was arraigned yesterday in Vestal Town Court on burglary and grand larceny charges.
Police say in August, Vassuer had unlawfully entered an unoccupied home and claimed he was a real estate agent looking to lease the property.
The prospective renters paid Vassuer the security deposit and later found out he wasn't a realtor.
They reported the fraud to police earlier this month.
Police have linked similar incidents in nearby communities to Vassuer.
He's also being held at the Broome County Jail on a separate charge.
