Lourdes hospital now operating as Ascension Lourdes

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Lourdes Hospital has a new identity.

Lourdes is taking on the name of its parent company and will now be known as Ascension Lourdes.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Lourdes President and CEO Kathy Connerton.

Ascension Lourdes will provide the same services but the signage and branding will change, as it adopts the Ascension "A" logo.

Lourdes joined the Ascension system in 1999.

Although the name is changing, Connerton says patients can expect the same, quality health care provided by people in our community.

"Your local health care is still local. We are still a local Catholic Health Care Ministry committed to this community. None of that changes. Our practices are not changing and you will still go to your same practice. Our hospital is not changing and we will still have the same services," said Connerton.

Connerton says the re-brand will take about a year to roll out.

Lourdes joins six other Ascension providers nationwide that will adopt the name this year, as part of an initiative to become "One Ascension."

Ascension operates 2,500 sites, employing over 36,000 providers located in 22 states and Washington DC.
