The Senator was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009 and has been receiving regular chemotherapy treatments at Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City ever since.
Libous said his oncologist encouraged him to run again.
"I feel good. My health is good right now. We go back to New York next week. We just keep moving forward. I feel good and my doctor thinks this is a great thing for me to do," he said.
Libous said he's attended a police union clambake and marched in a Norwich parade recently.
