Lake Street in Owego Has Reopened After Construction

Owego - A row of Owego businesses are rejoicing as their street has just reopened with more parking and smooth pavement.

Lake Street in the Village of Owego has reopened after being closed to vehicular traffic since April.

Crews put in new water and gas lines and also removed 2 cement banks to add more parking spaces.

Matt Romano owns Andy and Son Barber Shop on Lake Street and says he  many surrounding employers lost about 25 percent of their business during the construction.

Romano says there's now more parking and the work is all over.

Andy and Son Barber Shop Owner Matt Romano says, "Parking has always been a problem in Owego.  Luckily, they've added a few more parking spaces here.  Come down.  It's a great little village with some awesome shops here."

Romano also says the project was finished about a week ahead of schedule.
