BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Life somewhat mirrors art this weekend as TCO stages one of the most popular productions of the classic opera repertory.
Tri-Cities Opera is presenting La Boheme this Sunday at the Broome County Forum in downtown Binghamton.
The Puccini masterpiece follows the lives and loves of young Bohemian artists living in Paris in the mid 1800's.
TCO's production includes many young artists performing the signature roles for the first time, including Meroe Khalia Adeeb as Mimi.
Also, returning is former TCO singer Randy Messing as Benoit and Alcindoro.
General and Artistic Director Susan Ashbaker says the young artists have a camaraderie off stage similar to the story.
"This is a young cast and La Boheme is about teenagers. It's about youth, it's about love, it's about finding yourself. It's about, I guess they call it adulting these days, but it's about young people finding their way in the world and it comes at great fun but also comes at great pain," said Ashbaker.
La Boheme will be presented for one performance only, Sunday at 3 p.m.
