BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - A late night Binghamton chicken staple has fired up the fryers and is open once again.
Kennedy's located at 159 Main Street reopened under new management on Monday and is now called Kennedy's Fried Chicken and Gryo.
Owner Omer Sheikh purchased the business at the end of April and has cleaned up and remodeled.
He is the former General Manager of Popeye's Chicken, which is across the street.
Kennedy's offers chicken, gyros, seafood meals, along with one of its top sellers - Jamaican style beef patties.
Sheikh says he didn't buy any new equipment, but he did make a big change.
"No more cigarettes. I heard so many things about people coming here looking for loose cigarettes and for other illegal activities, so there's no more cigarettes. We're just serving food," he said.
"I'm very happy. I enjoy the fish meals and fries. I'm happy to see that they're open," said customer Patricia McHerrin.
Kennedy's is still open late at night with hours from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Wednesday.
From Thursday to Saturday, it's open from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Kennedy's Chicken and Gyro also offers ice cream and milkshakes.
