Some Calvin Coolidge students were proving today that some exercise can be good not only for your own heart, but those of others.

Before early dismissal due to the snow, the kids took part in the annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser at this Eastside Binghamton elementary. The students collect donations for the American Heart Association and then jump in three person teams. One team member jumps for one minute, then they rotate. Coolidge has raised over $42,000 since 2001. Phys. Ed. Teacher Adana Brauer says the party atmosphere motivates the kids.

"They realize that it's good for them. But they're also using their healthy hearts to help those who don't have healthy hearts. And this year's event is dedicated to the memory of David Bosnick who was an 8th grade English teacher at West Middle School. Great colleague, super teacher," said Brauer.

Bosnick died of a heart attack a few weeks ago. All this month, Brauer has been providing the school with healthy heart facts during the morning announcements.
