Johnson City Republican Mayoral Primary too close to call

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - The Republican Primary for Johnson City Mayor has two candidates separated by 18 votes making it too close to call.

The polls closed last night with Incumbent Mayor Greg Deemie leading Village Trustee Rick Balles by a vote tally of 255 to 237.

Republican Trustee Martin Meaney received 172 votes.

According to the Broome County Board of Elections, 83 absentee ballots were issued and 51 have been returned.

Absentee ballots must be received by September 19, in order to be counted.

The remaining votes will be tallied next Wednesday at 10 a.m.
