The Joint Landowners Coalition of New York State filed its lawsuit against Governor Andrew Cuomo and two other state agencies.

The JLCNY and several other parties had given the state a deadline of Valentine's Day to finalize the fracking guidelines called the Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement. The state did not issue them, so the suit was filed.

There has been a moratorium on fracking in New York for more than five years. The JLCNY represents about 70,000 landowners. The group is seeking to force the state to allow fracking. In addition to the Governor being sued, the Department of Environmental Conservation and State Health Department are named in the suit.

In reaction to the lawsuit, Fractivist Isaac Silberman-Gorn says the gas industry and its allies know they can't win in the court of public opinion and is now wasting taxpayer dollars on a frivolous lawsuit.
