A former USA Olympic softball star was at Binghamton University.

Jennie Finch was a softball player at the University of Arizona and competed during the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. She was the featured speaker at the Celebrating Women's Athletics luncheon at the Events Center. Finch, now a mother of three, travels to different universities and works at softball clinics around the county. She says it's important for her to support female student athletes and help raise scholarship money for them.

"It's amazing to see how far we've come as women, and in sport especially. Just seeing the changes it has allowed me to make and just knowing the impact that athletics plays, especially in our young women's lives is so important," said Finch.

Finch also spent time with the Binghamton University women's softball team today, which opens up its season in Florida on Valentine's Day.
