Horace Mann Hold annual Halloween parade

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Skeletons, goblins and superheroes were noted to have been circling around local elementaries across our area today.

Horace Mann in Binghamton was no exception as it held its annual Halloween parade.

Parents, family and friends lined the sidewalk and snapped pictures as students and teachers strolled around the block in their festive attire.

5th grade teacher Nicole Nemecek says events like these provide a positive incentive for the kids.

"The kids just absolutely look forward to it. It's just a nice day. We work really hard. The philosophy is 'work hard, play hard.' If they work hard they get to enjoy celebrations like this. They love it. It's fun to see them having fun and acting like kids," said Nemecek.

Nemecek says one of the most popular costumes this year was from the thriller movie The Purge.

Other activities for the day included pumpkin painting and decorating, games to earn treats as well as Halloween stories and movies.
