Greene Police Chief Arrested

- The man formerly employed to enforce the law in the Village of Greene has been arrested for breaking it.

New York State Police arrested Steven Dutcher, 43, on eight charges yesterday.

The former Village Police Chief is accused of three counts of grand larceny for allegedly stealing two Greene P.D. patrol rifles and a dog cage.

There are also five other charges related to using department money to buy vehicle tires and a vacuum cleaner for his own personal use and then falsifying records to conceal the thefts.

Dutcher was originally arrested back in April for stealing the vacuum cleaner and a harassment charge.

That launched a subsequent investigation by Broome County D.A. Jerry Mollen that led to the new charges.
