CORTLAND, N.Y. - Greek Peak is looking to the Winter Olympics to boost the popularity of snow sports as it prepares to mark a significant milestone.
The Cortland County ski resort is celebrating its 60th anniversary on Saturday with its second annual Winterfest.
This weekend's festivities include a DJ followed by a live band; drink tastings and vendors on the deck; giveaways; a rail jam at the base of the mountain; and costume contests, best toga wins!
Director of Sales and Marketing Kaitlyn Head says the success of American Olympic Snowboarders is a great opportunity to showcase the mountain's terrain park.
It's been moved to a more visible location, under the Visions Quad Lift, and Greek has formed a new terrain park crew.
"It's going to be maintained on a daily basis. And if people want to go out and learn something new, they're there to coach them. And then we have the Peak Plunge which will also be open this weekend. You can test your freestyle skills from a jump into a 50x50 foot airbag and it feels just like a cream puff," said Head.
Winterfest begins Saturday at 1 p.m. and serves as the kickoff to the important President's Week holiday.
