Calling hours are underway for the Binghamton Police Officer who was killed in a motorcycle accident, earlier this week.

Twenty-eight year-old Katie Brown was killed after the driver of the bike, former police officer Christopher Stoeckel, lost control along Route 434 in Binghamton late Sunday night. Brown had been on the force for three years. Calling hours are being held at a church in Lebanon, Indiana where she was originally from. According to her obituary Brown had a huge heart and wanted to help the less fortunate. She traveled on numerous mission trips, including one to help build a new roof for a home in Tennessee and she visited Honduras twice where she worked with children and farmers.
Just a few weeks ago, she received an award from the Binghamton Police Department for helping to rescue a woman who fell into a river last year. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning. Contributions can be made in Brown's memory to the Binghamton Police K-9 Fund, 520 Columbia Drive, Suite 100, Johnson City 13790. Note Binghamton K-9 Fund in the memo. Or donations can be made to the Broome County Humane Society at 2 Jackson Street in Binghamton 13903.
