First Friday: 'Friends and Painters' art display at Lost Dog Cafe

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Two local artists who have been painting together for the past six years are showing their recent works at the Lost Dog Cafe.

Robert Hoover and Teresa Arcodia both use acrylics on canvas and paint in styles that alternate between abstract and representational.

Arcodia, who was encouraged by Hoover to take up painting, says they sometimes turn to each other for advice.

"We either try to reassure each other, or we might make a slight suggestion.  We like to say to each other 'Stop.  Don't do anymore.  Cut it where we are.'  Because sometimes you think you want to add more and more and sometimes less is more," said Arcodia.

Hoover said, "I worked this year a lot with geometric abstract which is ironic because in high school I had zero interest in geometry.  As a mature adult, I'm fascinated by it."

The paintings are displayed in the Lost Dog Cafe's bar and dining area.

A First Friday reception will be held in the Lost Dog Lounge.
