Local celebrities are donning some fancy and everyday duds to walk the runway for the Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network.

Mothers and Babies provides counseling and assistance on a number of issues including teen pregnancy, parenting, breast feeding and health care. Plus it operates several Parents As Leaders or PAL centers throughout its eight county region. The organization is holding its inaugural Celebrity Fashion Show next week. Participants will model clothing from a variety of area retailers. Executive Director Sharon Chesna, executive director of Mothers and Babies, says fundraising is essential to keep the programs operating.

Sharon Chesna says, "You know a couple of the people that are our models, people will know. They'll recognize them from local television, local sports programs things like that. And then we have a lot of other people who are celebrities in their own right. And that's what we want to do is celebrate our community and the good things that are happening here. So we have a lot of people who are just everyday walks of life. "

The Celebrity Fashion Show will be held next Thursday from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Holiday Inn Arena. It begins with a vendor fair, free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. The fashions start at 7:00 pm. There's also a raffle and a silent auction. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at, by calling 772-0517, or at the door.
