In the spirit of Valentine's Day, a gas transmission company has donated $10,000 to help people in need pay their utility bills. The donation was given by West Virginia based Dominion Transmission, one of the largest natural gas storage systems in the country. The money will go towards the Project SHARE Heating Fund, which can award up to $350 to income-eligible NYSEG and Rochester Gas and Electric customers if they've fallen on severe financially difficult times.

"With the difficult economic times in the area, also the cold weather we've had here this year, we are really proud to participate, to give the money to the families in need to help pay their heating bills in the area of Iberdrola services here in New York State," said director of area operations Kevin Zink.

The non-profit organization HeartShare Human Services of New York operates the Project SHARE Heating Fund for NYSEG.

"It is a fund of last resort, which means that after they've exhausted all other avenues of support, the NYSEG/ProjectShare Heating Fund is there for them, by giving them money so that they can stay warm in this very cold winter," said Joseph Guarinello of HeartShare.

In addition to administering the emergency payment funds for NYSEG, HeartShare operates foster care and adoption services and programs that help people who have autism and developmental disabilities.
