The head of the Broome County Democratic Party is criticizing County Executive Debbie Preston for donning a Sheriff's uniform at a recent political event.

Wednesday evening of last week, Preston wore a deputy uniform at a campaign announcement for fellow Republican, Sheriff Dave Harder. Democratic Chair Jim Testani has sent a letter to the County Government Ethics Board requesting an investigation. Testani questions using the official uniform as a prop at a partisan political event and whether ordinary citizens would have access to the same uniforms for unofficial events.

Deputy County Executive John Bernardo released a statement saying that Preston has a sense of humor and wore the uniform in jest. He goes on to write that the State Sheriff's Association and the State Board of Elections found nothing wrong.
