DA: Vestal Kohl's manager provided false statements to police about alleged incident at store

VESTAL, N.Y. - A loss prevention manager from a local Kohl's has been arrested for allegedly providing two false written statements to police.

Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell says Michael Aston, 53, was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of Making a Punishable False Written Statement, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Cornwell says while working as the loss prevention manager for Kohl's Department Store in Vestal, Aston offered two written statements to Vestal Police Officers stating he witnessed a grand larceny at the store.

Cornwell says an investigation by District Attorney’s Office Chief Investigator Jason Ellis indicates Aston signed false statements.

Aston has been directed to appear before a Town of Vestal Court at a later date.
