BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Freshman Congresswoman Claudia Tenney is set to officially begin her re-election campaign this weekend with events in Binghamton and the Utica-area.
Tenney will formally announce her candidacy Saturday at her new campaign headquarters in New Hartford.
Then on Sunday, she'll hold a campaign announcement and petition rally at the Holiday Inn in Binghamton.
The events run from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
Attendees are asked to register in advance by emailing RSVP@ClaudiaForCongress.com.
Local gun rights activists are already trying to mobilize their members to show up in support of the first-term Republican.
Meanwhile, members of the group Indivisible Binghamton, who oppose Tenney and the Trump agenda, plan a counter-rally starting at 1:30 p.m. outside of the hotel.
Utica-area Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, who announced his candidacy last June, is expected to be Tenney's Democratic opponent in November.
