Reed was in Owego for a roundtable discussion with Tioga County businesses late yesterday afternoon.
The Congressman says the Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act would assist companies and universities in taking great ideas and making them reality, which in turn would create good paying jobs.
The legislation would allow for businesses to compete for grant funding.
"It would be a pot of money of about $300 million is what we have identified and found a way to pay for it, that folks across the country would be able to compete for. The competition would be based on what are the best ideas, products or services that are in concept phase that can be developed in a mass commercialized situation," said Reed.
The legislation is winding its way through the House and Senate. Reed says it has bi-partisan support.
