Cliff House ski store in Vestal closing at end of season

VESTAL, N.Y. - A longtime Vestal ski and snowboard store is closing up shop at the end of the season.

Cliff House on Front Street is going out of business.

Owner Cliff Conger plans to spend more time with his family, especially his adult son who has a rare syndrome that caused him to be hospitalized for an extended period recently.

Opened in 1971 by Conger's parents, Cliff House has offered sales and service for all winter sports, from skiing and boarding to snowshoeing and skating.

Plus plenty of outdoor apparel.

Conger says his own love for skiing, which began when he was a boy, has never waned.

"My customers are all friends, they're not just customers. I've worked hard and long to be knowledgeable and earn the trust of the people that come in. That's being honest and truthful is everything," said Conger.

Conger says he's seen significant advances in the equipment technology over the years that has made skiing and boarding easier and safer.

Cliff House is running a liquidation sale with everything in the store 40 to 70 percent off.
