Republican Congressional candidate Claudia Tenney was in Greater Binghamton Friday.

She is challenging Congressman Richard Hanna in next month's primary. Tenney met with residents, business owners and volunteers. The 2nd term New York State Assemblywoman also co-owns The Mid-York Press in Sherburne in Chenango County. She says it's important for her to introduce herself to businesses, because she is aware of the challenges they face. Tenney says she knows first hand the negative impacts that Obamacare is having on many businesses. She also is opposed to the Common Core, which she says has been forced on states. Tenney wants to debate Congressman Hanna, although up to this point, she says he has refused.
Claudia Tenney says, "I think the people have a right to hear what our views are to send people to this very important position. Hopefully, Mr. Hanna will debate me and people will have a chance to ask questions live and we won't be behind surrogates and commercials and all the other ways that people get to media without answering directly to the constituents."

A spokesperson for Congressman Hanna's office couldn't be reached by news time.
