Business of the Week: Catholic Schools of Broome County

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Catholic Schools of Broome County is the Greater Binghamton Chamber Business of the Week.

The system is comprise of four schools.

There are three elementary schools - Saint John's in Binghamton, Saint James in Johnson City, and All Saints in Endicott  - plus Seton Catholic Junior/Senior High in Binghamton.

943 students are currently enrolled in Broome County Catholic Schools, including 200 in pre-K.

And the schools employ 70 faculty members along with 10 administrators.

Elizabeth Carter took over as President of the schools in July.

She says Catholic Schools offer high academic standards, small class sizes and a faith-filled environment.

"It's really important for students to have some level of discipline.  But, we also counter that with high nurturing.  And those 2 characteristics are really important for all developing young people.">

Carter says Catholic Schools are open to students of any faith.
    She says currently, about 30 percent of the kids are not Catholic.
    And Carter says the system offers a variety of tuition assistance programs for families that qualify.
