Standard and Poor's has increased Broome County's credit rating from A to A+.

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston says the credit agency recognized the county's efforts to limit spending and to become more financially responsible.

Preston also says S&P credits Broome for identifying more than $4 million in annual savings, which has led to a boost in the county's fund balance.

Earlier this year, Moody's upgraded the county's credit rating, as well.
