Boy, 3, battling cancer named honorary member of B-Sens

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - With only two games left in the season, the Binghamton Senators are calling in some reinforcements.

On Thursday, the team added one more player to the roster.

The BSens named 3-year-old Abel, who is battling cancer, an honorary member of the team.

Abel was given a tour of the Arena and locker room and met the all players

He even got to show off his stick skills before heading out to the bench to watch practice.

After watching his new friends skate from the best seat in the house,  he was given a jersey and was named an honorary player by head coach Kurt Kleinendorst.

Abel's visit was extra special for BSens defenseman Chris Rumble, who is a cancer survivor and was glad he could relate to Abel.

"It was cool to be on the other side of things, obviously I've been through similar health problems in the past, so to have the experience to be on the other side and walking him through everything and to know what he is going through is pretty special," said Rumble.

And even though Abel won't actually be taking the ice this weekend, it's safe to say that he has made  an impact on this team.
