Binghamton University will host the 2015 and 2016 America East Women's Basketball Championship tournament.

B.U. was selected from numerous bidders. Numerous factors were considered before making a decision, including looking at local support and a marketing plan.

The conference is confident B.U. will be a great host.

"We're very excited, as I said, to bring this tournament back to a campus that has such great pride in the university, has such great pride in its students and its student athletes and athletics programs. Binghamton University is on the rise," said commissioner Amy Huchthausen.

Starting next year, the men's and women's tournaments will be held separately for the first time since 2009.

The men will go to a high-seed format, which means that teams with a better rank than their opponent will play on their own court.

As a result, B.U. could actually host both the women's tournament and a men's Bearcats game if the men make it to the semifinals.
