BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are partnering with a local company to offer free baseball on Memorial Day weekend for those who have defended our freedom.
Mirabito Energy Products is sponsoring free tickets for all active duty military members and veterans for the 4-day weekend from Friday May 26th through Monday May 29th.
The ball players will also wear special camouflage caps that weekend in honor of the military.
Mirabito President and CEO Joe Mirabito says he attended a Memorial Day game last season and was impressed by the way the ball club honored veterans.
He then met with Rumble Ponies owner John Hughes to see how they could take the tribute further.
"All these people made all of these sacrifices so that we can all be here today. I just think it's a perfect opportunity to remind everyone what these people have done for us. Whether you know them or not, it's only appropriate. This is just a small token of our appreciation," said Mirabito.
Active duty service members and veterans can show their ID at the box office to receive the free tickets.
It's recommended that they do so in advance because lines may be long.
Mirabito says they can come to as many as all four weekend games courtesy of the business.
Hughes says another special tribute for veterans that weekend will be announced in the near future.
