Binghamton Restaurant Week returns

- Binghamton (WIVT) - 29 independent, locally-owned restaurants in the City of Binghamton are gearing up for the biggest Binghamton Restaurant Week to date.

Little Venice Restaurant is one of the seven original participating eateries and helps to organize the twice-a-year promotion.

It will offer a 3 course lunch for $12 and 3 course dinner for $20.

Among the featured items, its very own Italian-style egg rolls filled with either meat logs or strips of chicken cutlet.

This Spring, Restaurant Week will donate proceeds to the local Habitat for Humanity and the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton.

Since its start five years ago, the promotion has raised over $50,000 for local charities.

"We have some new restaurants that are open that are all going to join in. You're going to have a lot of choices on where to go. A lot of different types of cuisine. It should be a very exciting event," said Piero Lisio of Little Venice.

The local restaurants have formed a new non-profit called eatBing which will help them secure more corporate sponsorships and government or foundation grants.

Lisio said the organization is hoping to add more special events throughout the year to go along with Restaurant Week, the Martini Walk and the Wine and Tapas Tour.
