Binghamton Police officers will soon carry a medication that can quickly reverse heroin overdoses. The medication is called Narcan.

It is a nasal spray that officers can use on people to get them breathing again. They are then taken to an emergency room for further treatment.

Over the next few weeks, police officers will be trained on how to administer Narcan.

Binghamton firefighters and Broome County Sheriff's deputies also carry Narcan.
