BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Democratic Candidate for Binghamton Mayor Tarik Abdelazim is showing off a surge in fundraising for its campaign.
The Binghamton City Democratic Committee says Abdelazim has out raised Mayor Rich David by over 50%.
Since July, The Democrat has raised nearly $30,000 and David has raised just over $19,000.
Democratic Committee Chair Terri Rennia also says David has spent over $35,000 over the last three months, while Abdelazim has spent $7,000.
Deputy Mayor Jared Kraham released a statement saying "Rich David significantly leads his opponent in cash on hand $54,816.20 to $25,337.87, according to the most recent campaign filings, which speaks for itself. More importantly, shouldn't someone running for office be focusing on important City issues like crime, taxes, infrastructure and creating jobs? Our opponent seems more concerned about Rich David's lawn signs than other key issues affecting residents. Based on his record with the Ryan Administration, it's obvious why."
