BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Weeks after pleading guilty to the rape of a child, a Binghamton man has been sentenced.
Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced today that Chad Winans, 37, was sentenced to 17.5 years in state prison.
Winans plead guilty to rape in the 1st degree, a class B felony, in March, for engaging in sexual intercourse with a person less than 13-years-old.
“This was a vile and lascivious attack on an impressionable child. It’s important for his victim and our community Chad Winans spend nearly two decades in prison -- away from children – unable to further prey on kids for sexual gratification," said Cornwell in a written statement.
In addition to his state prison sentence, Winans was sentenced to 10 years’ parole.
The case was investigated by Cornwell's Office and New York State Police.
