BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Saint Patrick's Parade-goers will be donning a design created by two Binghamton High School students.
Freshmen Cindy Zhang and Sophia Palmer were named winners of a parade t-shirt contest.
Palmer designed the front of the shirt, a four-leaf clover with the iconic Irish knots incorporated inside.
The back was created by Zhang, which illustrates a circular Irish knot pattern in green, white and orange, with a 50th anniversary commemoration inside.
Both students will receive a $100 prize from the Hibernian Society.
"When you think of St. Patrick's Day, you think of four-leaf clovers, so I thought that this would be a cool idea to try," said Palmer.
"I don't know how to explain in, but it's really cool to see something you designed on a t-shirt and that people actually want to buy it and wear it to the parade. It's really cool," said Zhang.
The winner of the contest was going to have their design on both the front and back of the t-shirt, but organizers loved both designs and included them both.
Shirts can be purchased at the Seton Post-Parade party, with proceeds benefiting the parade.
