BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The First Friday Art Walk has a new venue with art, music and coffee that makes a difference.
First Assembly of God Church on Washington Street is transforming the former City Light Cafe across the street into City Light Coffee.
It recently added an espresso machine to provide a variety of coffee drinks plus it sells pastries from Chroma Bakery.
It also features Coffee With A Cause in which all proceeds from the eatery go toward supporting the church's outreach efforts including its twice weekly free meals.
"It gives us an opportunity to connect with the community. It gives us an opportunity to let folks know what we're doing with Coffee With A Cause. Just another avenue for us to serve Binghamton and the downtown community," said outreach pastor J.J. Hefley.
On Friday evening, two musical acts, LEO and Oh Eternity, will perform and there will be works on display by a local artist.
Its First Friday event will run from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
City Light Coffee's normal hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.
