The B.U. Bearcats Men's Basketball Coach didn't have to wait to win a championship to get doused with liquid.

Tom Dempsey took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge today outside of the Events Center.

The challenge has taken off across social media as a way to raise awareness of ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, a degenerative neuromuscular disease for which there is no cure.

Dempsey was put up to the dousing by Sam Perkins, a blogger who writes about America East basketball.

Herb Courtney, my assistant, he's probably been looking forward to doing that for awhile. He got it right down my back. I was trying to protect and get the collar up a little bit so it didn't get right down my back. But, it's down my back and it was chilly but it was worth it," said Dempsey.

Dempsey then issued ice bucket challenges of his own to fellow coaches John Dunne of Saint Peter's University and Jimmy Pastos of Siena College, as well as Binghamton Mayor Rich David.
