It's a young bear in a tree off Old Vestal Road near Fourth Avenue. A viewer tipped us off, Friday morning. Apparently, he or she, was chasing some birds and went up the tree to try to get them. The birds got a way and the bear figured it wouldn't be a bad place to lounge for a while, about 25 feet off the ground. The bear is probably about 100 pounds or so. There are bears in this part of Vestal. Acreage and water near a floodwall and between Old Vestal Road and the Susquehanna River make for a decent habitat for them.
